Chinese Attire

Postby Sephichan » Sat Mar 01, 2008 9:16 am

Quick question... I read Asianwear is appropriate,

would I be able to wear a cheongsam like this?

And would I be breaking any rules by wearing a man's outfit?

??? Never seen blood+ ^_^

That's a Cheongsam... sort of modest formal old Chinese clothes. When I lived in Singapore I saw some folks wear them.

The Vietnamese style robe is Áo dài. The Cheongsam is Chinese and would be appropriate like a kimono could be appropriate. However, it would probably be a better idea to wear something more gender appropriate. You're not breaking any rules, but it's then like if some guy wore an evening gown to our dinner. Considering the atmosphere we're going for, it will not do.

Like I said. It's a suggestion. And I really, really, REALLY don't want no dudes wearing no evening gowns to my dinner. I also have a pet peeve of clothing, especially ethnic clothing, being worn. So go for it if you really dig it. Just my two cents.

I was reading their description on the Chinese Kungfu Hustle site, and they said it was a unisex garment, so that should work great, Ai. Thanks!

Side note: Trust me when I say this... you do NOT want to see me in a regular American evening dress. >_> I look like a highschool boy in drag. Terribly awkward and probably the most hideous thing that staggered from The Hills Have Eyes.

I can confirm that description, it really isn't a pretty sight. Mini-Seph does however look interesting in a Sailor Fuku. Not at all right for the dinner, but still, just throwing it out there.

Wow! These cheongsams look great! But I prefer my own Kung fu. I got it from http://www.goodorient.com/:

It costs me $87.98 and shipping, and I received it. It's surprisingly great, considering how much I have paid for it! Material feels great; the dress feels solid, nothing flimsy. They have a lot of designs but somehow this one catches my fancy the most. Anyone else want to share where they got their's from?

Regards,
Ruby
